The Mitchell Wolfson Family Foundation Partners with The Florida Keys Council of the Arts to Create the Audubon House Artist FundThe fund is set to help hundreds of local artists who have been negatively impacted by the effects of COVID-19 KEY WEST, FL - April 2020 - The Audubon House & Tropical Gardens is launching a fund for local artists to receive some much-needed help during these unprecedented times. In partnership with the Florida Keys Council of the Arts and sponsored by the Mitchell Wolfson Family Foundation, the Audubon House Artist Fund will benefit the very artists who make Monroe County the colorful and vibrant environment that it is. As COVID-19 continues to impact the Monroe County community, this artist relief fund will offer stipends of up to $500.00 per applicant. In line with the Mitchell Wolfson Family Foundation’s mission, this fund is set to support a community enriched with art. All genres of artists, including visual, music, dance, literary, street performers and more, who live in Monroe County can submit an application directly through The Florida Keys Council of the Arts website, www.keysarts.com. Funds will be distributed on a rolling basis and applications will be open starting April 22, and are due no later than May 4, 2020. “As a pioneer in the restoration movement of Key West, the Audubon House & Tropical Gardens is dedicated to supporting our region’s artists through good times and bad,” said Jacque Waxenberg, President of the Audubon House & Tropical Gardens. “We are lucky to have an organization such as the Florida Keys Council of the Arts to help us identify and work with the artists that bring so much culture to Monroe County.” The Florida Keys Council of the Arts is committed to ensuring that everyone in the community has equal access to the arts and the fundamental right to express their culture through the arts. “Art has the power to reshape communities,” said Cori Mizrahi Wolfson, a board member of the Audubon House & Tropical Gardens. “As one of the oldest and most established museums in Key West, we have seen the region go through many ups and downs. As part of our partnership with the Florida Keys Council of the Arts, we want our local artists to know that they are integral to the Florida Keys.” Contact information:
